Top House Intel Dem wants to call Ivanka as witness in Russia probe

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee said he wants to call “dozens” more witnesses to testify in front of the panel in the Russia probe, including first daughter and presidential adviser Ivanka Trump.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) told Reuters that he would like committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) to call Trump and former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon as witnesses. He also wants Trump’s husband, Jared Kushner, to testify again.

Schiff’s comments came shortly before it was reported that Bannon is expected to appear before the panel next week as part of the investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election.

Bannon reportedly hired Washington lawyer Bill Burck to help prepare him to testify.

{mosads}The House Intelligence Committee has interviewed several witnesses, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Eric Trump and Kushner, but Democrats on the panel have expressed concerns that Republicans have declined to call dozens of others in an effort to shut down the probe ahead of completion.

One Democrat on the committee said earlier this month that the panel is considering publishing a report detailing how GOP members tried to hinder the investigation, including by refusing to call witnesses.

President Trump, who has repeatedly insisted that there was “no collusion,” said earlier this week that he thinks it is “unlikely” he will be called as a witness in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
