Financial Services Committee Republican: Maxine Waters's policies 'bad for America'

Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), the ranking member on the House Financial Services Committee, said Sunday that Committee Chairman Maxine Waters's policies are "bad for America."

"The politics she supports, and the politics she votes for, and the policy she votes for, are really bad for America and rally bad for job creation, really bad for economic growth," he said during an interview on "The Cats Roundtable" radio show in New York.

"And that's why I have opposed so much of what she's doing, which is going in a really very far-left direction," McHenry added.

McHenry was also critical of Water's investigations into the finances of President Trump. Waters is leading a probe into Trump's finances and his ties to Deutsche Bank, the bank that lent Trump millions of dollars when he was a real estate mogul.

McHenry called Waters's approach "far-left" and said it is not "rational."

"The far left is trying to drive this conversation for all Democrats. So, while we have a lot of pragmatic Democrats in Congress, they are fearful of what this far left would do to them in a primary. So they are not supporting the rational policies they should be and that the American people support," he said.
