Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) mocked President Trump’s claims of “presidential harassment” prior to the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s redacted report on Thursday, saying she “just lived through one!”

Trump recently took aim at the first-term Muslim lawmaker regarding her remarks on the 9/11 terrorist attacks during a March speech to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

Omar, misstating when CAIR was started, said “CAIR was founded after 9/11, because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.”{mosads}

Conservatives last week accused Omar of downplaying the terrorist attacks, and the president shared a video on Twitter that featured footage from the 9/11 attacks interspersed with Omar’s comments.

Democrats accused Trump of inciting violence against Omar, who in November was one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress.

Omar said in a Sunday statement that she has experienced an increase in death threats after the president’s tweet, including many directly referring or replying to Trump’s video.

“Violence crimes and other acts of hate by right-wing extremists and white nationalists are on the rise in this country and around the world,” Omar said. “We can no longer ignore that they are being encouraged by the occupant of the highest office in the land.”

A New York man was arrested weeks prior for allegedly threatening to murder Omar.

Trump doubled down in his criticism of Omar on Monday, saying she had ben “very disrespectful” to the United States.

The president told local news affiliate KSTP in Minnesota that Omar has “got a way about her that’s very, very bad for our country.”

“She’s been very disrespectful to this country. She’s been very disrespectful, frankly, to Israel. She is somebody that doesn’t really understand life, real life. What it’s all about,” he told a reporter.

“She’s got a way about her that’s very, very bad for our country,” Trump added.
