Aide to Dem rep charged with soliciting underage prostitute

A longtime aide to Rep. Anthony Brindisi (D-N.Y.) on Friday was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for soliciting a prostitute.

New York State Police announced the arrest of John Stemen, 57, following an investigation involving a 17-year-old police say he met online and whom he admitted to paying $200 for a “sexual date.”

{mosads}“As soon as we were made aware of the charges, John Stemen was immediately terminated from his position,” Brindisi’s office said in a statement to The Hill.

New York State Assembly records reviewed by the Times Union show that Stemen worked for Brindisi in the state House since at least 2012 and joined his district office staff when Brindisi was elected to Congress in November.

Brindisi’s office did not immediately respond to an inquiry as to how long Stemen has worked for Brindisi.

Stemen is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court on May 20.
