Massa to face investigation from House ethics panel

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), who chairs the ethics panel, and Rep. Jo Bonner (R-Ala.), its ranking member, announced an ongoing investigation into Massa’s activities Wednesday afternoon.

“The allegations surrounding former Representative Massa are serious and warrant a full and complete investigation,” Lofgren and Bonner said in a statement, noting that the committee vote to open a probe was unanimous.

Lofgren and Bonner will lead the investigative subcommittee charged with looking into the allegations. Reps. Ben Chandler (D-Ky.) and Mike Conaway (R-Texas) also will serve on the subcommittee.

Massa resigned from Congress in early March after some of the allegations about unwanted advances with staffers first surfaced. He has denied any misconduct and initially said he was giving up his seat for health reasons.
