Legendary sportscaster Brent Musburger said Thursday that former ESPN anchor and current GQ political commentator Keith Olbermann needs to get off “that soapbox of his” and stick to talking sports instead.

Musburger, who announced his retirement from broadcasting on Wednesday after more than 50 years in the business, was taken aback by Olbermann’s recent call for President Trump to resign after being in office for less than one week.

{mosads}”When did Keith Olbermann become this progressive?” Musburger asked in an interview with Olbermann’s former ESPN “SportsCenter” partner Dan Patrick. “I think I was looking for Musburger on Google last night — I had enough Irish whiskey — I looked at Olbermann and he’s calling for President to resign a week in. What’s going on with this guy?”

“He’s the baseball guy,” Musburger continued, incredulous. “I wanna know how many games the Cubs are gonna win next year, and he’s out there calling for Mr. Trump to resign. When did this happen?”

Olbermann was a staunch critic of President George W. Bush and Republicans in general for years on his MSNBC program, “Countdown.” He also repeatedly called on Bush and Vice President Cheney to resign throughout their time in the White House.

On Tuesday, the 57-year-old Olbermann — who parted ways with ESPN for a second time in his career last year and began his online GQ program, “The Resistance” a few months later — called on President Trump to resign, arguing he’s “not of sound mind.”
