Kellyanne Conway canceled an appearance on Fox News’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Wednesday night after it was announced that a special counsel would be appointed to head up the investigation into President Trump’s ties to Russia.

Tucker Carlson noted Conway’s cancellation during Wednesday’s show, saying the show booked Conway at the request of the White House.

“Kellyanne Conway was going to be sitting in that seat,” Carlson said. “We had booked her at their request. We don’t often have people from the administration on, but they said ‘we want to send over Kellyanne Conway’ — great.”

“Then, not long before air, they canceled it, for reasons that were not exactly clear.”

{mosads}Carlson addressed the cancellation again later in the show, saying Conway canceled “about an hour before airtime.”

Conway’s cancellation came after the Justice Department announced it would appoint former FBI Director Robert Mueller to oversee the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, including any links between Trump’s campaign and Moscow.

Mueller’s appointment was quickly praised by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.
