Stephen Bannon announced he would be leaving his role as White House chief strategist Friday, and he returned to his role leading Breitbart on the same day.

The news organization rose to prominence as a pro-Trump publication during the presidential campaign under Bannon’s leadership. Though some Breitbart staffers have celebrated Bannon's return to Breitbart, others expressed anger at the loss of his influence at the White House.

Bannon has promised that he would "go to war" for Trump after leaving the White House, using his role leading the media company.

“If there’s any confusion out there, let me clear it up: I’m leaving the White House and going to war for Trump against his opponents — on Capitol Hill, in the media and in corporate America,” Bannon said in an interview with Bloomberg.

Multiple Democrats have introduced formal articles of impeachment of Trump, most recently last Thursday, when Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) denounced Trump’s comments on the deadly Charlottesville, Va., white supremacist rally, which resulted in the death of one counterprotester and the injury of at least a dozen others when a man with alleged racist ties plowed his car into a crowd.
