CNN's Ana Navarro: Trump 'abused power' with Arpaio pardon

CNN’s Ana Navarro on Sunday battled with former Trump campaign adviser Michael Caputo about President Trump’s pardon of former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

During a roundtable on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Navarro argued that Trump “abused power,” citing a Saturday report from The Washington Post that said Trump asked Attorney General Jeff SessionsJefferson (Jeff) Beauregard SessionsTrump's policies on refugees are as simple as ABCs Ocasio-Cortez, Velázquez call for convention to decide Puerto Rico status White House officials voted by show of hands on 2018 family separations: report MORE to drop the case against the former Arizona sheriff.

“How is asking a question of your Cabinet an abuse of power?” Caputo asked. “And doing what they tell you that you should do? That’s not an abuse of power. That’s simply an inquiry.”

Navarro argued that Trump “does not do simple inquiries.”

Later in the segment, Caputo and Navarro argued over whether or not Navarro, a fierce critic of President Trump, is a Republican.

“No actually, I was a Republican when the president you support was a Democrat,” Navarro told Caputo. “And I was a Republican when the president you support was an Independent.”

“If you’re a Republican, I’m Luis Fonsi,” Caputo responded, referencing the "Despacito" singer.

Caputo then hit Navarro for supporting Democratic Sen. “Do you know how to spell hypocrisy?” Navarro asked Caputo. “Or should I spell it out for you?”
