CNN to air sexual harassment Town Hall featuring Gretchen Carlson, Anita Hill

Lauren Aguirre

CNN announced it will air a town hall this Thursday that will focus on sexual harassment and feature former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson, activist Anita Hill and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.).

“Tipping Point: Sexual Harassment in America” will be hosted by CNN “New Day” anchor Alisyn Camerota and will air at 9 p.m. on Nov. 9.

Carlson dominated headlines in July 2016 after bringing a sexual harassment suit against Roger Ailes, then the chairman and CEO of Fox News.

{mosads}An internal investigation followed and led to Ailes’ ouster two weeks after the suit was filed. Ailes always maintained his innocence despite several women coming forward, including former Fox News star Megyn Kelly.

Ailes died in May at the age of 77.

Hill is best known for her nationally televised testimony accusing then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment 1991. Thomas was later confirmed to the Supreme Court.

Gillibrand is currently leading a legislative effort to improve procedures for administrating sexual harassment complaints on Capitol Hill.

Additional women who will be featured in the one-hour special include #MeToo movement founder Tarana Burke, actress Jessica Barth, who has accused former media mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct in 2011, and Mary Bono, a former Republican congresswoman who recently accused a sitting male congressman of sexual harassment.

“Guests will take questions from Americans across the country who have been impacted by sexual harassment and discuss effective measures that lead to sustainable change in the workplace,” reads the program announcement from CNN.

The network has featured numerous town hall events on a number of topics in 2017. Participants have included House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), former Vice President Al Gore and Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), among others.
