CNN’s Cuomo moving to prime time, vows to ‘test power’ and ‘debate with decency’

CNN morning co-anchor Chris Cuomo is making his move to prime time permanent, according to the network.
“Beginning this spring, Cuomo Prime Time will air weeknights at 9pm ET following AC360,” a network statement reads, referring to Anderson Cooper’s 8 p.m. program.
“The show will feature Cuomo’s signature in-depth one-on-one interviews that test politicians and newsmakers on their positions, as well as analyses of news of the day and the latest breaking news,” CNN added.
{mosads}”Cuomo Prime Time,” which ran throughout January, was seen as a test run for Cuomo in prime time. The program finished tied with Cooper as CNN’s top-rated show in the coveted 25–54 demographic. It averaged 392,000 viewers in the demographic, which advertisers care about most, and finishing tied for ninth overall against rivals Fox News and MSNBC.
In total viewers, Cuomo averaged 1.11 total viewers in prime time and finished 25th overall against its competition.
“AC360” finished 24th as CNN’s highest-rated program in total viewers with 1.126 million.
Cuomo took to Twitter to share the news with his 1.3 million followers, vowing to “test power” on a daily basis.
“I hear you. We will test power. Every. Damn. Day. Just like always. Have to talk TO people more and ABOUT them less. Debate with decency. The need is clear. Hopefully we help fill it,” the former ABC “20/20” anchor wrote with the hashtag #ChrisCuomoPrimeTime

Cuomo is the son of former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo (D) and the brother of current New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D).
Mid-morning host John Berman was named as Cuomo’s replacement on “New Day.” He will join former “Fox & Friends” host Alisyn Camerota, who moved to the network in July 2014.
