Fox News was named the most talked-about brand online on Tuesday, receiving an award from Engagement Labs, a data and analytics firm.

Fox was the only television network to make the list of brands in any category Engagement Labs judged.

In the online category, the 22-year-old cable news network topped the NBA and the NFL as the most talked about brand.

“Before consumers buy, they talk. They seek recommendations from friends, co-workers and family about where to shop, what to eat or drink and what shows to watch. Such conversations have a large impact on the revenue of the brands being discussed,” according to an Engagement Labs release.

“The Most Talked About Brand Award is given to those with the highest volume scores online and offline in 2017. Walmart clipped the top spot as the Most Talked About Brand offline. Meanwhile Online, the Most Talked About brand was Fox News, which both won the ratings war in 2017 and found itself in the social media spotlight.”

Fox News has seen several changes to its lineup over the past 18 months, losing prime-time hosts Megyn Kelly, Bill O'Reilly and Greta Van Susteren. Kelly jumped to NBC, O'Reilly parted ways with the network in April 2017 amid sexual harassment allegations, and Van Susteren left the network in September 2016 following a contract dispute.
Fox is also frequently at the center of regular social media controversies — including after host Laura Ingraham criticized Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg and host Sean Hannity promoted conspiracy theories surrounding the death of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich.

Despite the changes, the network continues to dominate the cable news landscape from a ratings perspective and was the most-watched basic cable channel in 2017, averaging 2.46 million total viewers in prime time, led by "Hannity" and "Tucker Carlson Tonight," which was added to the prime-time lineup in January 2017 after Kelly's departure.
