"Donald Trump recognized history. He, like King Cyrus before him, fulfilled the biblical prophecy of the gods worshipped by Jews, Christians and, yes, Muslims, that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Jewish state and that the Jewish people deserve a righteous, free and sovereign Israel," Pirro wrote in an opinion piece over the weekend.

Pirro called the move a "truly historic moment in Israel's history," adding that the president’s decision was a "cause for great celebration" and sends a clear message that the U.S. stands with the Jewish state.

While the move, which formally took place Monday, has been celebrated by the Israeli government, the president’s decision sparked protests across the region.

Protests in Gaza at the Israeli border have been taking place for weeks but sharply rose in intensity, leaving scores of Palestinians dead from Israeli gunfire.
