Top 50 journalists followed by CEOs on Twitter include Ross Sorkin, Swisher, Bartiromo

CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin, Recode’s Kara Swisher and Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo are the top three journalists followed by CEOs with active Twitter accounts, according to a poll released Thursday.

Rational 360 created what it calls “The Influencer Index,” which showcases the top 50 journalists followed by CEOs and reveals “which journalists are influencing top world business leaders,” according to a statement from the Washington, D.C.-based strategic communications company. 

{mosads}Other journalists to make the top 10 are CNBC’s Becky Quick, Fortune’s Adam Lashinsky, Emily Chang of Bloomberg, CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, Tech Crunch’s Michael Arrington, CNBC’s Joe Kernen and The New York Times’s Nicholas Kristof, in that order.

The analysis found that 64 percent of the media members on the list work for business publications or networks.

Other notable names outside of business media in the top 50 include Axios’s Mike Allen, at  No. 21; CNN’s Anderson Cooper and Fox Business’s Liz Claman, tied at No. 24; Wired’s Nicolas Thompson, at No. 27; Business Week’s Rachel King and The Wall Street Journal’s Christopher Mims, tied at No. 35; NBC’s Megyn Kelly, at No. 39; and CNN’s Laurie Segall and The New York Times’s Maggie Haberman, tied at No. 45.

Rational 360’s analysis found that only 11.6 percent of CEOs are on Twitter, with just 163 out of 1,395 CEOs being active on the social media site.
