CNN to again pair Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen on New Year's Eve as Lemon, Baldwin return to New Orleans

Anchor Anderson Cooper and talk show host Andy Cohen are again slated to host CNN's annual New Year's Eve coverage from New York's Times Square, the network announced, while anchors Don Lemon and Brooke Baldwin will handle Central Time Zone duties once more from New Orleans.

Last year's pairing of Cooper and Cohen delivered CNN's highest-rated New Year's Eve offering, which is now in its 11th year. In previous years, Cooper head teamed up with comedian Kathy Griffin, who was jettisoned by the network after posing for a photo shoot in May 2017 with a bloody severed head in the likeness of President TrumpDonald John TrumpActivists highlight Trump ties to foreign autocrats in hotel light display Jose Canseco pitches Trump for chief of staff: ‘Worried about you looking more like a Twinkie everyday’ Dershowitz: Mueller's report will contain 'sins' but no 'impeachable offense' MORE.

Lemon, meanwhile, has sparked headlines by drinking during the telecast, and getting his ear pierced during it two years ago.

“Happy New Year!” Lemon exclaimed at midnight during the 2016-2017 telecast. “Oh my God! I need a little more — pour me a little more, a little more. Perfect. That had a big head on it.

"I can’t hear a damn thing. So, 2016 was awful..."

Fox News, which also offers live coverage from Times Square and other parts of the country, is expected to announce its plans soon.

MSNBC does not offer a New Year's Eve broadcast, with broadcast partner NBC handling the honors with host Carson Daly, formerly of MTV.
