Kennedy, Hegseth to host New Year’s Eve broadcast for Fox News

Fox News announced Monday that Lisa “Kennedy” Montgomery and Pete Hegseth will co-host the network’s annual New Year’s Eve broadcast from Times Square this year.

Kennedy, a former MTV VJ, is the host of Fox Business Network’s “Kennedy” and Hegseth hosts “Fox & Friends Weekend.”

Hegseth is a staunch supporter of President Trump and was rumored in 2017 to be in the running to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs.

{mosads}This will mark the second straight year Kennedy will be co-hosting the end-of-year special for Fox News, while Hegseth will assume the co-host role fulfilled by “Watters World” host Jesse Watters last year.

Fox News correspondent Griff Jenkins and Fox News reporter Carley Shimkus will co-host the earlier part of Fox’s offering starting at 8 p.m. ET.

Other network personalities to be featured that evening include Fox Nation’s “Tyrus,” whose real name is George Murdoch, and Britt McHenry, a former ESPN reporter, who will be interviewing the crowd in Times Square, while Fox News correspondent Bryan Llenas will be reporting on security from Times Square.

The network will also offer reports from around the country, including Miami, New Orleans and Nashville, Tenn.

The New Year’s Eve programming from Fox News comes after CNN announced last week that anchor Anderson Cooper and talk show host Andy Cohen will co-host the network’s New Year’s Eve coverage from New York’s Times Square.

CNN anchors Don Lemon and Brooke Baldwin will handle Central time zone duties once more from New Orleans.

In the past, Cooper had teamed up with comedian Kathy Griffin, who was jettisoned by the network after posing for a photo shoot in May 2017 with a bloody severed head in the likeness of President Trump.

Cable news rival MSNBC has not offered New Year’s Eve coverage, and this year will be no exception, with NBC handling the duties with anchor Carson Daly, also a former MTV host.
