The subtitle also take a swipe at Trump, saying: “Shuts down government over wall to put coal in stockings of 800,000 workers.”

“It could be head wasn't screwed on just right. It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight,” the tabloid said in a tweet sharing an early look at its latest cover on Friday night.

“But we think that the most likely reason of all may have been that his heart was two sizes too small,” the newspaper continued.

The cover comes after Congress failed to meet a deadline on Friday night to reach an agreement to fund numerous federal agencies, which resulted in a partial government shutdown.

The disagreement was over money for Trump’s wall along the southern border.

Earlier this month, the president said he would be “proud” to trigger a government shutdown over border wall funding, but said later on Friday that Democrats are to blame.

Lawmakers gathered at the Capitol on Saturday in efforts to reach a deal on spending to end the shutdown, but the Senate has since adjourned without reaching a deal, ensuring that the closure will drag on for days.
