Fox News host makes new year’s prediction: Trump’s border wall ‘is never going up’

Fox News host Julie Banderas is predicting that President TrumpDonald John TrumpHouse panel approves 0.5B defense policy bill House panel votes against curtailing Insurrection Act powers after heated debate House panel votes to constrain Afghan drawdown, ask for assessment on 'incentives' to attack US troops MORE’s proposed wall along the U.S.-Mexico border is “never going up.”

Speaking on “Outnumbered” Wednesday, Banderas said, “I’m going to make a 2020 prediction. The wall is never going up. Mark my words.”

Trump is currently locked in a battle with congressional Democrats over funding for a border wall that has resulted in a partial government shutdown, which is now in its sixth day.

“If the Republicans don’t give what the Democrats want, the shutdown is going to continue until January," Banderas said, "Then the Democrats take over, then Republicans have no chance of getting the border wall.”

Democrats are set to enter the new year with a majority in the House and have signaled that they do not intend to give in to Trump on the wall.

Trump has demanded more than $5 billion in funding for a border wall, though Banderas says he will not be getting the money.

“First of all, there will not be the money. The $5.7 billion, even if it actually is passed, that’s a penny compared to what the ultimate cost would be, not to mention the logistics. It would cost over $20 billion to put up the wall,” she said.

Banderas also noted that Trump has begun to call it a “slat” or a “fence,” instead of a wall, which was a central theme of his campaign.

“I don’t care if you call it a slat, a fence, a wall — it’s not happening,” she said.

"If this is the hill that the president is going to die on politically, he’s in for a rough ride,” Fox Business host Lisa Montgomery added.

Trump remained in the White House over Christmas as the government was shut down before making his first trip to a combat zone to visit troops in Iraq and Germany.
