Pelosi indicated Wednesday that she would block Trump from delivering the speech in the House chamber until the federal government fully reopens.

Trump announced later Wednesday that he would postpone the speech, originally set for Jan. 29, until the government reopens, saying he wanted to deliver it in its traditional setting before Congress.

“The fascism that Nancy Pelosi is displaying is the fascism that we are now seeing within the Democrat Party," Levin, a chief of staff to former Attorney General Edwin Meese who served under former President Reagan, said on his program Wednesday.

The conservative radio host launched into a critique of the Democratic Party while decrying "a fascism that wants to take 70 percent of your wealth" and "a fascism that destroys the Constitution, while waving it around."

“Nancy Pelosi is America’s first fascist. And that’s a fact," he said.

Levin, who also hosts the weekend prime-time program "Life, Liberty and Levin" on Fox News, also argued that the newly minted Democratic Speaker is "stomping all over the Constitution."

“Now, they call the president of the United States Hitler, Stalin. He’s neither. That’s outrageous. I would never call Nancy Pelosi Hitler, Stalin or Eva Braun," he said. “But her tactics are the tactics of a fascist. And she’s stomping all over our Constitution. And I’ll call her out on it, even though the others will hide back in the shadows until I clear the coast. That’s OK.”

On Thursday, Senate Republicans blocked a stopgap measure to end the partial shutdown, the second of two failed efforts to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

Senators voted 52-44 on the legislation, falling short of the 60 votes needed to defeat a filibuster.

Earlier in the day, a GOP proposal was blocked by Democrats in the Senate, also failing short of the 60 votes needed with a 50-47 margin.
