CNN anchors mock Fox News hosts insisting Trump didn't cave: You can tell 'who still wants to go to Mar-a-Lago'

A CNN panel on Monday mocked Fox News hosts who insist that President TrumpDonald John TrumpTrump: 'Haven't thought about' pardons for Mueller target Pence: Rocket attack 'proves that Hamas is not a partner for peace' Conservation remains a core conservative principle MORE didn’t “cave” by agreeing to temporarily reopen the government without money for his proposed border wall.

After showing clips of four conservative commentators giving their differing takes on the deal, CNN’s Alisyn Camerota suggested that those sticking by Trump are hoping to be invited to his private beach club in Florida.

“You can tell very clearly from this who still wants to go to Mar-a-Lago,” Camerota said.

The montage included commentary from Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro, who both said Trump did not cave. Conservative commentator Ann Coulter and Fox Business host Lou Dobbs, however, criticized Trump for not delivering on his promises.

“He did not cave,” Pirro said. “He made a tactical decision, a strategy decision to pick the ground to fight on. … Folks, the war isn’t over yet.”

CNN political commentator Joe Lockhart on Monday called Pirro and Hannity “creations of the Fox News marketing department,” saying their comments are examples of creating content strictly to cater to their viewers.

“You have two people who are creations of the Fox News marketing department and know their audience, took a poll and said ‘we’d better still be with the president,’” Lockhart said.

Trump signed a temporary funding bill on Friday to end the partial government shutdown after a record 35 days. Though the shutdown was triggered over Trump’s demands for border wall funding, the three-week continuing resolution does not include that money.

Trump defended the decision, saying that it was “in no way a concession.”
