The network averaged 11.1 million total viewers to capture the top spot, with NBC delivering 7.1 million and CBS 6.7 million total viewers.

ABC and Fox rounded out the top 5 with 5.9 million and 4.2 million, respectively.


MSNBC was among cable news networks behind Fox News, capturing 3.8 million viewers for Tuesday night's address. CNN finished third between with 3.4 million total viewers.

In the 25–54 demographic, 2.8 million viewers tuned into Fox News between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. for the president's second State of the Union address.

NBC came in second, with 2.6 million viewers, followed by CBS, with 1.9 million; ABC, with 1.8 million; CNN, with 1.2 million; and MSNBC, rounding out the category with 798,000.

Trump overall scored big ratings when combining all the networks that covered his speech Tuesday night, with the audience share increasing by more than 10 percent over last year's speech, according to early broadcast TV numbers from Nielsen.

Final numbers will be in late Wednesday afternoon, but it appears the Tuesday's address captured the highest TV ratings out of any of the major speeches Trump has delivered since taking office in January 2017.
