Trump mocks CNN for lowest ratings of year: ‘Congratulations!’

President Trump mocked CNN on Monday morning, tweeting out a report that the cable news network registered its lowest viewership of the year earlier this month.

“Congratulations!” wrote Trump to his nearly 60 million followers.

He shared a Daily Caller story on CNN’s ratings struggles that shows the AT&T-owned network finished 15th overall in basic cable — behind channels including the Discovery Channel, Food Network, TLC and A&E — during the week of April 8–12.

{mosads}CNN averaged 690,000 people and 180,000 in the 25- to 54-year-old demographic that advertisers covet most during the week, according to the Daily Caller report.

It aired three town hall events during the week featuring 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, including one with Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) on April 9 that attracted just 491,000 viewers

Trump has appeared in interviews on Fox News and Fox Business more than 40 times since taking office, but has not appeared on CNN since August 2016 when he was a candidate.

CNN declined to comment.
