"Star Trek" star Chris Pine will play iconic "CBS Evening News" anchor Walter Cronkite in the upcoming movie "Newsflash," according to a Friday report.

Deadline reports the film will chronicle Cronkite on the day President Kennedy was assassinated on Nov. 22, 1963, in Dallas.

NBC was the first to report Kennedy had died, but Cronkite's announcement of the president's death is what is largely played in documentaries and retrospectives of the tragedy to this day.

Mark Ruffalo, who plays The Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is slated to play Don Hewitt, Cronkite’s producer on the day of the assassination.

Logan Lerman will reportedly play a young Dan Rather, who started his career in journalism in Dallas and was on the scene at Dealey Plaza during the assassination while working for Dallas CBS affiliate KRLD-TV at the time.

Cronkite announced his retirement in February of 1980.

The University of Texas graduate passed away in New York City in 2009 at the age of 92.

A release date for "Newsflash" has not been announced.
