Fox News foreign correspondent Trey Yingst defended his network on Thursday from criticism by CNN President Jeff Zucker. 

Yingst said Zucker should “take a look at the work” of his colleagues at Fox News while “holding those in power accountable, risking their lives to get the story and reporting the facts” in a series of tweets that highlighted reporting by Fox.

{mosads}Zucker said at a network-hosted event in New York on Thursday said that Fox News is “akin to state-run TV” and has become “conspiracy TV,” while saying there is “no difference” between the news side and opinion side at the network.

Yingst pushed back at Zucker without mentioning him by name on social media Thursday afternoon shortly after the CNN head made his comments.

“If you don’t think Fox News is a ‘journalistic organization,’ I’d encourage you to take a look at the work my colleagues have done over the past year. Holding those in power accountable, risking their lives to get the story and reporting the facts. Here are just a few examples,” wrote Yingst.

Zucker also said Thursday he’s “very open to talking” to Shepard Smith during the network’s Citizen conference, calling the former Fox News anchor “an immense talent.”

Smith, 55, parted ways with Fox News on Oct. 11 and won’t immediately be able to take a new job reportedly due to the parameters of his contract.

“I think Shep’s a great journalist,” Zucker told CNN senior media correspondent Brian Stelter at the network’s Citizen conference. “When he’s available, he is somebody who is very talented and I would be very open to talking to him.”

CNN has hired several former members of Fox’s news division in recent years, including Alisyn Camerota, Dave Briggs, Connor Powell and Rick Folbaum.
