CNN Pelosi town hall finishes third in cable news ratings race, draws 1.6M

CNN’s town hall featuring House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) drew 1.6 million total viewers on Thursday night, finishing in third place behind Fox News and MSNBC in the race between major cable news outlets, according to early Nielsen Media Research returns. 
The town hall came just hours after the California Congresswoman announced the House of Representatives will draw up articles of impeachment against President Trump, likely leading to a trial in the Republican-controlled Senate. {mosads}
 
Fox News’s “Hannity” was first during the 9 p.m. hour with 3.8 million viewers, followed my MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show” with 2.63 million. The CNN-Pelosi event was third with 1.6 million. 
 
In the 25- to 54-year-old demographic sought by advertisers, Fox News was again first with 618,000 viewers, followed by MSNBC’s 420,000. CNN was third in the category with 410,000. 
 
CNN has held several town halls with Pelosi, with three occurring in 2017 and one in 2018. 
 
The House Minority Leader, Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), was interviewed by Fox News’s Sean Hannity opposite of a portion of Pelosi’s town hall moderated by CNN anchor Jake Tapper.
