The book's release comes less than four months after Cohen, Trump's former personal attorney who was once known as his "fixer," was released from federal prison due to the coronavirus pandemic. In 2018, he was sentenced to three years on charges of campaign finance violations and lying to Congress.

Cohen is currently on a media tour to promote the book, called "Disloyal," which included an interview with NBC's Lester Holt set to air Tuesday evening.

“I describe Mr. Trump as a cult leader, and I was in this cult,” Cohen told Holt.

“While I was in the cult, I was really refusing to acknowledge that the actions I was performing for my boss were morally wrong,” he continued.

Cohen later added he would advise Trump to "resign now."

Trump has repeatedly lambasted the book, going back to last year.
