Jenner's announcement in the Golden State's race comes as Newsom faces a recall effort over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Still, 59 percent of likely voters have approved of his handling of school reopenings, according to a new poll released earlier Thursday. A similar 59 percent said they approve of how the governor is “handling the issue of jobs and the economy,” while 40 percent disapprove.
