Ex-ESPN reporter Williams signs with conservative news site
Telemundo names Julio Vaqueiro as new anchor
Telemundo on Thursday named Julio Vaqueiro, an Emmy Award-winning reporter, as the new anchor of "Noticias Telemundo," the Spanish-language network's flagship newscast.
Vaqueiro replaces José Díaz-Balart, the longtime anchor who earlier this month announced he would premiere a new daytime show on MSNBC while continuing to anchor specials and breaking news events for Telemundo.
Vaqueiro has been with Telemundo's national network since 2017, after working as an anchor at the network's Los Angeles affiliate, and on several news programs in his native Mexico.
"Julio has consistently delivered impactful and rigorous journalism across multiple anchoring roles, and we're thrilled he will be bringing his integrity, unique voice and commitment to our audience to our flagship newscast," said Luis Fernandez, president of Noticias Telemundo.
Vaqueiro contributed coverage to the joint Telemundo-NBC News initiative "NBC News X Noticias Telemundo Reports," which featured reporters from both networks producing content in English and Spanish to air on their respective newscasts.
