Wallace gave the compliment on Friday following an intense back-and-forth between his colleague, Peter Doocy, and Psaki regarding President BidenJoe BidenHouse passes 8B defense policy bill House approves bill to ease passage of debt limit hike Senate rejects attempt to block Biden's Saudi arms sale MORE visiting the U.S.-Mexico border.

“Honestly, as somebody who’s spent six years in the White House, my immediate reaction was, 'Those are two people at the top of their game,'" Wallace said in a clip highlighted by Mediaite.

“I don’t know that anything was particularly accomplished, but they both gave and got pretty good,” Wallace added.

Wallace, who worked as chief White House correspondent for NBC News, added that the flattering comparison between Doocy and Donaldson was a "very grudging compliment," as he had been a White House correspondent at the same time as Donaldson.
