Former Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt joins Cassidy

Former Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt (R) has joined Cassidy and Associates as a senior consultant, the firm announced Tuesday.

He joins the firm at a time when most K Street firms are turning to Democrats to shore up relationships with the party in control of Congress and the White House.

But Marty Russo, the firm’s CEO and a former Democratic congressman, said hiring Blunt reflected the “new spirit of post-partisanship” in Washington.

Cassidy has had close ties to the Blunt family for several years. The firm’s vice chairman and chief operating officer, Gregg Hartley, was a longtime staffer to Roy Blunt.

The younger Blunt was elected the 54th governor of Missouri on Nov. 2, 2004. He previously served as secretary of state and was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy.
