“We need the public’s help, we need everybody’s help, and I know Seth knew the right thing if everybody helps us, we will find these murderers and we will make that neighborhood a lot safer,” Mary Ann Rich, his mother, said during a news conference in Washington Monday, according to ABC 7 WJLA.

“We need help,” Rich’s father, Joel, added. "We need people who know what was going on who may know somebody, we need help from whomever can give the police some more information on what might have happened.”

The murder grabbed national headlines in August when WikiLeaks offered $20,000 for information leading to a conviction for Rich’s killing. WikiLeaks’s reward came more than two weeks after the transparency organization leaked thousands of internal DNC emails before the Democratic National Convention.

The trove of messages caused uproar as it showed the DNC seemingly helping undermine Sen. DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was forced to resign after the emails were published.

Rich's mother says Wasserman Schultz's interim replacement has been helpful in the wake of the slaying.

“Donna Brazile came down, and that’s Seth’s boss, three levels ahead of Seth, I don’t know of any boss three levels that comes down to help,” she said.

“This is people coming together to solve a problem. Seth believed, one, that America is absolutely great and, two, what makes America great is its people. And he any problem we ever had, if we would work together as equal human beings, we could solve our problems.”

Police initially said Rich’s death may have been an attempted robbery, though nothing was stolen and no witnesses have come forward claiming to have seen the attack.
