Rep. Hensarling, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, was also reportedly considered for Treasury secretary, which went to billionaire Steve Mnuchin. 

The head of the OMB manages the president's budget and the mechanics of the federal government. 

Trump is now considering Gary Cohn, the president of Goldman Sachs, to lead the OMB, according to Politico.
