President Trump's son Eric suggested that nepotism is unavoidable during an interview published Tuesday.

“Nepotism is kind of a factor of life,” Eric Trump told Forbes.

“We might be here because of nepotism, but we’re not still here because of nepotism. You know, if we didn’t do a good job, if we weren’t competent, believe me, we wouldn’t be in this spot.”
Trump said his father is a man who "expects people to perform."
"And if they’re not performing, he kind of encourages them to go on their way," Trump said.
"You know the one thing, Don, Ivanka and I never let him down really in any factor of life. And I think it’s one of the reasons that we’re as innately close as we are.”
Earlier this year, President Trump announced he was handing over control of his business empire to his two adult sons, Eric and Donald Jr., and placing his assets into a trust.
Eric Trump questioned whether his father would have been able to hand over his company four or eight years ago — since they hadn't had as much experience at those points.
“I don’t know if he could have done the presidential thing four years ago,” Trump said.
“Certainly eight years ago, he couldn’t have. I think we probably would have been too big of question marks for him."
He said hopefully now "we earned our stripes."
"And I think that’s ultimately why we’re in the seat we’re in," he said.
Last week, reports surfaced that Ivanka Trump would be an official government employee and serve in the White House as an unpaid senior adviser to her father. Her husband, Jared Kushner, is also one of Trump's top advisers.
