Obama: We are praying for victims of 'another senseless tragedy'

Former President Obama said Monday that he is praying for the victims of a mass shooting in Las Vegas that more than 50 people dead. 

“Michelle & I are praying for the victims in Las Vegas. Our thoughts are with their families & everyone enduring another senseless tragedy,” Obama wrote on Twitter.


The shooting occurred on the Las Vegas Strip Sunday night at the Route 91 Harvest Festival. Shots were fired from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino while country music singer Jason Aldean was performing at the end of the three-day country music event, which reportedly drew 30,000 attendees. 


The suspected gunman has been identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock.

Paddock, a Mesquite, Nev., resident, was found dead in a hotel room, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said.

Police think Paddock was a "lone wolf" attacker, according to The Washington Post.
