Boehner on if Obama ever snuck a cigarette: He’s ‘scared to death’ of Michelle
Former Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said former President Obama is “scared to death” of his wife, Michelle Obama.
During an interview with Politico, Boehner was asked whether he’s ever seen the former president sneak a cigarette.
“Oh no. No no no,” he said.
“He’s scared to death of his wife. Scared. To. Death.”
Boehner also talked during the interview about a 2011 meeting he had with Obama.
“I’m smoking a cigarette, and they bring me a glass of merlot,” Boehner said.
“And we’re sitting there a little while, and here’s the president drinking iced tea and chomping on Nicorette. What else do you need to know about the two of us?”
In 2013, Obama said he hadn’t had a cigarette in six years.
“That’s because I’m scared of my wife,” he said.
Michelle Obama has said the couple’s daughters played an important role in getting the former president to quit the habit.
