Rudy Giuliani’s assertion that “truth isn’t truth” topped a Yale Law School librarian’s list for the most notable quotes of 2018, according to The Associated Press

The statement went viral in August after Giuliani, a personal attorney for President Trump, appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” and discussed whether a presidential interview with special counsel Robert Mueller could be a “perjury trap.”

{mosads}In response to moderator Chuck Todd’s statement that “truth is truth,” Giuliani responded: “No, it isn’t truth. Truth isn’t truth.”

Giuliani said he was trying to make the point that an interview would be fruitless since Mueller and Trump were in disagreement over fundamental aspects of the special counsel’s inquiry.

“We have a credibility gap between the two of them,” Giuliani went on to say. “You’ve got to select one or the other.”

Giuliani’s quote is one of several on the list related to the president, including Trump’s January tweeted declaring himself a “stable genius.”

The list also featured several other political quotes, including Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s comments about beer during his confirmation hearing, Meghan McCain’s eulogy for her father and more.

“I liked beer. I still like beer,” which was said by Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing, is second on the list.

McCain’s tribute to her father, the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), which some saw as a swipe at Trump, was fourth: “We gather to mourn the passing of American greatness, the real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those that live lives of comfort and privilege while he suffered and served.”

Kanye West’s remark about the “dragon energy” he and Trump share also made the list.

“You don’t have to agree with Trump but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone,” West said in April.

That quote resulted in a strong backlash among liberals against the famed rapper and began a months-long controversy regarding the musician’s relationship with the president.

The Yale list was first established in 2006 and is updated yearly with quotes that are famous or are believed to represent the times.
