Chelsea Clinton said in an interview early Tuesday that she is currently not considering a challenge to President Trump, but left open the door on a White House bid.
“I’m definitely not the right person to run to defeat [President Trump] in 2020. Right now, the answer is no,” Clinton said on CBS’s “This Morning.”
“But I think we all need to be asking ourselves that question periodically,” the former first daughter added.
Clinton told Variety late last month that rumors about running for office have been swirling for years.
Clinton also left the door open to running for office during her interview with Variety.
“If someone steps down or something changes, I’ll then ask and answer those questions at that time. But right now, no, I’m not running for public office,” Clinton told Variety.
Clinton has been on making media appearances to promote her book "It's Your World,” and her soon-to-be published children’s book “She Persisted,” which comes out in late May.
