“This is their last gasp from trying to prevent him from being confirmed,” Cornyn told CBS News’s “Face the Nation,” about Democratic threats to filibuster Gorsuch’s nomination.

“But they won’t, and Judge Gorsuch will be confirmed this week one way or another.”

Republicans have promised to confirm Gorsuch, even suggesting the so-called “nuclear” option, which would alter the Senate rules so that overcoming a procedural hurdle to his confirmation would only require a simple majority of 51 votes.

Pence during a speech over the weekend in Ohio also said the Senate will confirm Gorsuch "one way or the other.”

So far, two Democrats have said they will back Gorsuch for the seat on the nation’s highest court. Republicans, with their 52-person majority in the upper chamber, still need six Democrats to support the nominee to reach the 60 votes currently required to end debate.

Cornyn last Friday said Democrats’ efforts to prevent Gorsuch from being confirmed show they will try to block any potential nominee.

“If they filibuster Neil Gorsuch, they’re going to filibuster everyone that this president might propose,” he said.
