“Covfefe? Hard to say, but I hear Al Franken’s new book is full of it,” Cruz tweeted alongside a winking, smiling emoticon.

Cruz's reference of "covfefe" came after Trump joked earlier in the day asking people to find out the true meaning of "covfefe."

Trump shortly after midnight Wednesday tweeted, “Despite the constant negative press covfefe,” leading to a social media frenzy of faux definitions for the word and numerous jokes. Trump deleted the tweet shortly after 6 a.m. before challenging social media users to find the "true meaning" of the word.

Cruz’s use of the word to hit Franken’s book is the latest update to a longstanding feud between the two senators.

The Texas lawmaker last week slammed Franken for focusing on him for an entire chapter of “Al Franken, Giant of the Senate.”

“Al is trying to sell books and apparently he’s decided that being obnoxious and insulting me is good for causing liberals to buy his books,” Cruz told Politico. “I wish him all the best.”

Franken said during a USA Today interview last week that he describes Cruz as “singularly dishonest” and “exceptionally smarmy” in a chapter of his new book.

“You have to understand that I like Ted Cruz probably more than my colleagues like Ted Cruz,” he said. “And I hate Ted Cruz."
