"Donald Trump repealed #DACA, not Dems. @GOP keeps blocking the #DREAMAct, not Dems," Markey tweeted. "Republicans are using #DREAMers for leverage, not Dems. The only dream Trump seems to care about is his empty one of a border wall."

The tweet comes after Trump on Tuesday went after Democrats over DACA and a border wall with Mexico.

“Democrats are doing nothing for DACA – just interested in politics. DACA activists and Hispanics will go hard against Dems, will start ‘falling in love’ with Republicans and their President!” Trump tweeted earlier in the day.

Congress is barreling toward a showdown over the future of DACA, an Obama-era program that allows certain immigrants who came to the United States illegally as children to work and go to school here.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) are expected to meet with White House officials on Wednesday to discuss myriad upcoming policy fights, including DACA.

The Trump administration announced in September it would end DACA, giving Congress six months to come up with a long-term solution for program recipients.

Trump has previously said Democrats “fully understand” that a DACA fix will require funding for a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

“The Democrats have been told, and fully understand, that there can be no DACA without the desperately needed WALL at the Southern Border and an END to the horrible Chain Migration & ridiculous Lottery System of Immigration etc. We must protect our Country at all cost!” he said in a tweet.
