Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said on Wednesday she was happy with the recent direction of the DREAM Act after the president appeared to voice support for a clean bill regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
“What I was glad to see is that we are moving forward on getting a clean DREAM Act,” Warren told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on “New Day.”

“These young Dreamers are in peril only because President Trump broke America’s promise. Years ago, America promised that if these young people would come out of the shadows and they would be fully vetted, then they would have the opportunity to go to school here in America, they would have the opportunity to get jobs, to join the military, to become a full part of the American fabric,” she continued.
The president said on Tuesday he wants a “bill of love” to address DACA, while appearing to voice support for Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-Calif.) proposal of a “clean” DACA fix while dealing with other issues, like border security, in the future.
Trump moved to end the Obama-era program, which permits certain immigrants who arrived in the U.S. illegally as children to work and go to school without fear of deportation, in September. The DREAM Act would grant such immigrants work permits and a path to citizenship.
Judge William Alsup said on Wednesday that DACA must remain in place as litigation over the president’s decision to end the program plays out.
The move ensures that DACA recipients who did not renew their status by last year’s deadline will get a chance to submit renewal applications.
