Collins to skip GOP retreat
GOP Sen. Susan Collins (Maine) is skipping her party’s retreat in West Virginia this week, citing plans in her home state.
“I’m not going to the retreat. I have some commitments in Maine that I missed because of the government shutdown. … So I’m going to Maine,” she told reporters on Tuesday.
The Senate is expected to wrap up its short workweek on Tuesday, with GOP lawmakers heading to West Virginia on Wednesday for a joint House-Senate retreat.
Congressional Republicans plan to use the party meeting, which comes a day after President Trump’s State of the Union speech, to map out the 2018 legislative agenda.
Trump is expected to attend the retreat on Thursday.
