Suspect arrested in murder of Dallas transgender woman

Dallas police said they’ve arrested a man in connection with the murder of transgender woman Muhlaysia Booker and two others.

Kendrell Lavar Lyles, 34, has been charged with three counts of murder, police said in an online release.

Booker, 23, was fatally shot in May, a month after a video of her being attacked by a mob went viral.

Detectives determined Lyles was driving the same type of car that is believed to have picked up Booker the night she died. Police also said cellphone records connected Lyles to the area Booker was in the night she went missing.

Maj. Max Geron identified Booker as one of the victims in a Wednesday news conference but did not name the other two victims, both of whom were shot to death.

One was shot on May 22, while the other was shot on May 23, police said.

Three black transgender women have reportedly been killed in Texas since October.
