Gunman in Texas shooting rampage identified

The gunman involved in the shooting that killed at least seven people in Odessa, Texas, has been identified as Seth Aaron Ator, 36, the Midland Reporter-Telegram reported Sunday.

A spokesperson for the city confirmed the alleged shooter's identity to the outlet.

The Hill has reached out to Odessa town hall for further confirmation.

The Odessa Police Department confirmed the identification on Facebook.

The mass shooting, the second to take place in Texas in a month, killed at least seven people and injured 22 more.

Odessa Police Chief Michael Gerke during a press conference earlier Sunday refused to identify the suspect.

"I am not going to give him any notoriety for what he did," Gerke said.

Police said the suspect died in the attack and had a criminal record.

Officials confirmed the shooter used an AR-style rifle.
