A Houston U.S. Postal Service worker surprised a local family on her regular route with a care package full of food and snacks after the mother was forced to quarantine due to testing positive for COVID-19.

Lisette LeJeune said that her family’s mail carrier took it upon herself to deliver a package of canned soup, cookies and gummy candies, ABC 13 reported on Wednesday.

“I open the door. Of course, I was wearing my mask, and I told her not to put the mail in my mailbox because her and I are both touching it and I was positive with COVID-19,” LeJeune told the news outlet. “So I told her I would put a bucket in front of my door, so she could just drop it in and she said ‘OK, thank you.’ I was checking the front door, expecting packages, and I saw there was a bag with food.”

The mail carrier also left LeJeune, who has two sons, a personal note sending her well wishes for a speedy recovery. LeJeune told ABC 13 that the kind gesture made her a little emotional.

LeJeune is no longer showing any symptoms associated with the coronavirus and her sons have not reported any indication of the virus either.

She said that she plans to thank the postal service worker with a small gift to show her gratitude.
