Former Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) lamented the state of American politics, claiming “Trump has completely destroyed the Republican Party.”

"It is a terrible thing because it doesn’t give Americans an opportunity to vote on the issues," he said. "It’s either you’re for Trump or against Trump."
Rangel said that the Republican Party has fundamentally changed, and altered its basic ideals.
"The worst that we have in America has joined up with Trump and good Republicans have nowhere to go," he said.
Rangel proposed the creation of a new Republican Party that could separate itself from Trump and restore credibility.
"We’re talking about starting a brand new Republican Party with principles that every Democrat would have to take a look at," he explained.
"Where this new party would be competing with the Democratic Party because the principles would be the same."
