Hannity's Trump interview tops cable news with 4.8M viewers

The Thursday special registered 4.8 million total viewers and 1.2 million in the 25-54 younger demographic that advertisers covet most, according to Nielsen Research figures released Friday.

MSNBC's "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" finished second in total viewers with 1.94 million and "CNN Tonight" with Don Lemon came in third with 1.2 million. CNN topped MSNBC in the key demographic, 474,000 to 429,000.


Hannity's interview with the new president ranks among the top five most-watched telecasts for the program at 10 p.m. ET in both total viewers and key demographic, according to Nielsen figures.

Trump’s White House special on Wednesday with ABC "World News Tonight" anchor David Muir drew a 1.7 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and 7.5 million total viewers, the top-rated program across all networks on Wednesday night.
