Mark Walker is replacing retiring Republican Rep. Howard Coble. Walker upset Phil Berger Jr., who was backed by party leaders, in the GOP primary following a tough runoff. In the general election, Walker beat Democrat Laura Fjeld.

Walker worked most recently as a Baptist pastor at the Lawndale Baptist Church in Greensboro and organizes community service projects. For six years, he wrote and directed the Greensboro Christmas Spectacular. He was appointed by the Greensboro City Council in 2012 to the War Memorial Commission. He also speaks on mentorship and administration at local colleges.

Walker lives with his wife, Kelly, and their three children in Summerfield, N.C.
