From sea to shining sea, for profound reasons at a critical moment in history, Democrats stand united to lead the land we love to a new era of American exceptionalism and prosperity reminiscent of the New Deal of Franklin Roosevelt and the New Frontier of John F. Kennedy.

There are three extraordinary factors creating the surge of unity throughout the Democratic Party, and the appeal of the Democratic vision to large swaths of voters who are not Democrats.

First, America and the world are battling a deadly disease that will soon bring the deaths of 100,000 Americans with a grave danger, made worse by President TrumpDonald John TrumpFauci says his meetings with Trump have 'dramatically decreased' McEnany criticizes DC mayor for not imposing earlier curfew amid protests Stopping Israel's annexation is a US national security interest MORE, of a massive second wave of death by September or October at the latest.

Second, America is now in the midst of a Great Depression that will hopefully be short but undoubtedly demands the far-reaching policies Democrats stand for, and Republicans reject, which House Democrats now offer, and Republican leaders declare dead on arrival.

Third, America is now led by Trump, whose highly unpopular presidency insults cardinal values of democracy, Americanism, and equality and angers, frightens, alarms and motivates Democrats to an extraordinary surge of unity.

The front page of The New York Times on Monday brought an accurate and important story titled “Biden Pursues Ideas to Match Scale of Crisis.” As you read these words there are groups of Democrats, including voices from every segment of the party, working together to develop New Deal-magnitude programs on major issues to address the economic, financial, environmental, medical and moral crises facing America in 2020.

The core vision and uplifting plans of united Democrats speak for a majority of political independents and even some Republicans who believe Trump is destroying the party of Lincoln and attacking the fabric of Americanism that has embodied the nation at our best not for years, or decades, but for more than two centuries since 1776.

When every Democrat who ran against Biden for the Democratic nomination stands by his side, and offers enthusiastic support, they do so with a passion, conviction and intensity that is inspiring, authentic and powerful.

When their advisers and supporters join forces to devise the coming New Deal that would define a Biden presidency, they are pursuing the noblest vision of Democrats who view America as a land of hopes and dreams — a dream at the core of Biden’s political soul — and enlightened policies of Democrats who believe leaders should think big, aim high and serve all of the people.

There is a surge of unity and blossoming of big ideas equal to the challenge of defeating the virus that would kill us and the new Great Depression that destroys American jobs, families and spirit.

Let the president and his henchmen lie about Biden while Biden and united Democrats offer a return to American ideals, American prosperity, American justice, American security, a shared American patriotism and an uplifting revival of the American Dream that voters yearn for today, tomorrow and forever.
