On Monday 40,000 Palestinians were directed by Hamas, the terrorist organization that has been ruling the Gaza Strip for more than a decade, to storm the Israeli border with knives, bombs, hatchets, grenades, Moltov cocktails and more. It was the sixth week in a row Hamas orders went out for attacks on Israel.

This time, their excuse was rioting in opposition to the United States moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. But Hamas’s real reason stems from a desire to annihilate the Jewish State.

“From the information we have, it appears Hamas is encouraging and sending protesters to the border fence in order to carry out violent acts and damage security infrastructure,” the Shin Bet security service said.

The media coverage of the horrific event plays right into Hamas’s hands. Outlet after outlet called the violence “protests.” They claimed Israel was attacking women and children, even some with disabilities who were sent to the fence and failed to acknowledge they were being used as human shields.

“Israel Kills Dozens at Gaza Border as U.S. Embassy Opens in Jerusalem,” the New York Times reported.

“DADDY’S LITTLE GHOUL: 55 Slaughtered in Gaza, but Ivanka all smiles at Jerusalem embassy unveil,” the New York Daily News ran on their newspaper cover, as if the U.S. should have delayed or reversed the embassy move to appease violent Islamic terrorists.

“Over 50 Palestinians in massive protest are killed
by Israeli military, bloodiest day in Gaza since 2014 war,” an ABC News headline said, failing to mention the 2014 war was a response by Israel to Hamas shooting thousands of rockets into the country.

Major facts were completely ignored, including that Hamas purposely sent women and children to the fence so terrorists could attack from behind them. They failed to report that prior to the riots, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) dropped leaflets over Gaza warning the citizens not to approach the fence, which represents an international border with a sovereign country.

“To the residents of the Gaza Strip, in recent weeks, Hamas has been carrying out violence and terror against Israel, its boundaries and the Gaza Strip. Hamas is trying to hide its many failures by endangering your lives,” the flyers said. “At the same time, Hamas is stealing your money and using it to dig tunnels at your expense. You deserve a better government and a better future. The IDF is warning you against the security fence. The IDF is determined to protect Israel’s citizens and sovereignty against Hamas’s attempts to terrorize us under the pretense of violent riots. Do not approach the security fence and do not participate in Hamas’s life-threatening farce.”

But it wasn’t just those in western media who got the story wrong and gleefully helped push Hamas’s narrative. Members of Congress were happy to help, vilifying Israel instead of holding Hamas responsible.

“Mostly unarmed.” “Unarmed.” Hardly.

By today’s count Israel killed nearly two dozen Hamas terrorists, backed by Iran with heavy weapons.

With an attack on the border involving thousands of people, IDF soldiers don’t have a choice. They either defend their country or people inside it die. This wasn’t a “protest,” but rather an attack on a sovereign country with a goal of breaking through to harm innocent Israeli civilians living just on the other side.

‘This is not peaceful resistance, it is supported by our weapons,” Senior Hamas Official Mahmoud al-Zahhar said during an interview with the Middle East Media Research Institute.

Dozens of people are dead in Gaza because Hamas sent them there to die, knowing dead civilians are helpful to their cause. Media and their Democratic friends on Capitol Hill are enabling their narrative. Hamas is not the victim here, but rather the enablers. Yet by reading the headlines, you would never know.
